RELAXATION GUIDELINES, SUPPORT & SAFETY INFORMATION
Align To Become

About Our Guided Relaxations
Align To Become ("ATB") offers guided relaxations designed to support self-reflection, relaxation, personal awareness and general wellbeing.
Our relaxations may include guided visualisations, breathing exercises, mindfulness-based practices, reflective prompts, somatic awareness and binaural beats.
These practices are intended to create space for individuals to slow down, reconnect with themselves and explore their personal experiences.
There is no particular way you need to feel or respond during a relaxation. You may choose to simply listen or engage more intentionally with the prompts.
Participation is voluntary and self-directed.
Preparing for Your Relaxation
Before beginning, we recommend that you:
-
Find a quiet, comfortable space where you are unlikely to be interrupted.
-
Choose a time when you can give the practice your full attention.
-
Sit or lie down in a safe, supported position.
-
Use headphones if you would like to experience any binaural beats included in the audio.
-
Keep the volume at a comfortable level.
-
Allow yourself time to settle before beginning.
-
Take a few moments afterwards to reflect on or journal anything you noticed.
You may pause, repeat or return to a relaxation whenever you choose.
About Binaural Beats
Some ATB relaxations include binaural beats.
Binaural beats are an audio effect created when two slightly different sound frequencies are presented separately to each ear. The listener may perceive an additional rhythmic beat corresponding to the difference between those frequencies.
Some people find binaural audio supportive during relaxation or meditation. However, individual experiences vary, and research into its effects and potential benefits is ongoing.
For the intended binaural listening experience, headphones should be worn over both ears.
Headphones are optional for listening to the guided relaxation itself.
ATB does not guarantee that binaural beats will produce any particular neurological, psychological, emotional or physical outcome.
Falling Asleep During Relaxations
Some participants may feel sleepy or fall asleep while listening.
This can occur during relaxation and does not necessarily indicate that anything is wrong.
If you would prefer to remain awake, you may wish to:
-
Listen earlier in the day.
-
Sit comfortably upright rather than lying down.
-
Choose a time when you feel more alert.
-
Take a break and return later.
There is no requirement to remain awake throughout every practice or to achieve a particular experience.
Emotional or Physical Discomfort
Guided relaxation, reflection and visualisation may bring awareness to emotions, memories, thoughts or physical sensations.
Some experiences may feel unfamiliar, uncomfortable or distressing.
If discomfort arises, you are encouraged to:
-
Pause or stop the audio.
-
Open your eyes and reconnect with your surroundings.
-
Notice the support beneath your body or feel your feet on the floor.
-
Allow your breathing to return to its natural rhythm.
-
Take as much time as you need before continuing.
-
Seek support from someone you trust or an appropriately qualified professional if necessary.
You are not required to continue a relaxation that feels uncomfortable or unsafe.
If you experience significant or ongoing distress, discontinue the practice and seek appropriate professional support.
You remain in control of your participation at all times.
Important Listening Safety Information
ATB guided relaxations should only be used in environments where you can safely direct your attention inward without compromising your awareness of your surroundings.
Do not listen while:
-
Driving or operating a vehicle.
-
Operating machinery or equipment.
-
Caring for children or other people who require your active supervision.
-
Walking near traffic or navigating potentially hazardous environments.
-
Performing tasks that require sustained attention, coordination or situational awareness.
Some relaxations may encourage participants to close their eyes, focus on bodily sensations or enter a deeply relaxed state.
Only participate when it is safe and appropriate to do so.
Medical and Mental Health Considerations
Some ATB relaxations may include binaural audio, guided breathing, visualisation, emotional reflection or inward-focused awareness.
These practices may not be suitable for everyone.
If you have epilepsy or a history of seizures, a condition that may be affected by sound-based stimulation, or any physical or mental health concern that may affect your participation, seek advice from an appropriately qualified healthcare professional before engaging.
If you have experienced trauma, dissociation, panic symptoms or distress associated with meditation or inward-focused practices, consider seeking professional guidance before participating.
You may choose to keep your eyes open, modify an exercise, skip a prompt or discontinue a relaxation at any time.
ATB relaxations are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any medical or mental health condition.
They are not a substitute for medical care, psychological treatment, counselling or other professional healthcare services.
Personal Responsibility
Participation in ATB relaxations is entirely voluntary.
By choosing to participate, you acknowledge that:
-
You are responsible for assessing whether a relaxation is appropriate for your circumstances.
-
You may pause, modify or discontinue any practice at any time.
-
Individual experiences and responses will vary.
-
No particular outcome, improvement, transformation or therapeutic benefit is guaranteed.
-
You are responsible for seeking appropriate professional advice or support when necessary.
ATB provides guided educational and wellbeing practices. How you choose to engage with those practices remains your responsibility.
No Guaranteed Outcomes
ATB does not guarantee that participation in its relaxations will result in specific emotional, psychological, physical, spiritual or personal outcomes.
Some participants may experience relaxation, greater awareness or a sense of clarity. Others may have different experiences or notice no immediate change.
All experiences are individual.
Our relaxations are intended to support personal exploration rather than create an expectation of transformation.
Not Crisis Support
Align To Become is not a crisis service, mental health treatment provider or emergency support service.
If you are experiencing severe emotional distress, a mental health crisis, thoughts of self-harm or any situation requiring urgent assistance, please seek support from an appropriate healthcare professional, crisis service or emergency service.
In Australia, call 000 if there is immediate danger. You can also contact Lifeline on 13 11 14 for crisis support.
A Gentle Reminder
You do not need to leave a relaxation feeling transformed.
Sometimes you may feel clearer. Sometimes you may notice something new. Sometimes you may simply experience a moment of rest.
You are welcome to engage with our relaxations at a pace that feels appropriate for you.
Our practices are designed to support your life, not become another obligation to maintain.
Show up when you can. Return as you need.
Acceptance
By accessing or participating in ATB guided relaxations, you acknowledge that you have read and understood these guidelines and agree to participate voluntarily and responsibly.
If you do not agree with these guidelines, please discontinue use of ATB guided relaxations.
